ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training)

ASIST is a framework for suicide intervention developed for caregivers, professionals like mental health professionals, nurses, physicians and clergy who by virtue of their position are more often exposed to persons at risk. Through intensive training in a 2 day or 5 day format caregivers are prepared to intervene to stop a suicide.

The Wingman Project complements ASIST training by providing a basic understanding of the fundamentals of intervention for military members and families. While ASIST training for everyone would be the ideal, the reality of scheduling and commuting distance constraints on Guard and Reserve families often precludes this. The Wingman Project proven technique called ACE (Ask Care Escort) fills that gap providing enough training to be effective and intervene to save a life.
